If your objective is ‘to become a CEO one day’, I think you are already missing the point. Within reasonable limits, it does not matter when you are starting – young or later. Your objective should be to ‘do something’, to add value, to create, to make better……. You need to be passionate about ‘contributing’. Not about ‘becoming’ something. If you do something consistently well and also have a bit of luck along the way to be at the right place at the right time, becoming a CEO or some other position or desired state might happen to you. If becoming a CEO is your objective to start with, I am afraid it is going to be difficult for you.

All through my career, all the great people I have seen who have achieved great heights, have almost always been passionate about what they are doing or about building something of value to others. Not about a future title they are after. The future big titles and corresponding compensation have come to them because they were passionate about doing something well. That does not mean future plans are bad. Future plans should be about what you want to get done and about how you want to contribute to make things better in the future – and much less about what you want to become. You will become great if you do great things accompanied by the required extent of luck. There is nothing much you can do about the luck element – but you can focus on what you are passionate about getting done.

Good morning and have a great day.

Please stay safe 🙏!!!
